Apple has an affordable iPhone in the form of the iPhone SE and the company is now preparing to launch a third generation model. Before the device became official, several details had already leaked online.
Now, a new report claims that the new Apple iPhone SE, which is said to come with support for 5G connectivity, could become official sometime in March or April this year at Apple’s event.
According to a report by Mark Gurman in the Power On newsletter for Bloomberg, Apple is expected to host its first major event this year sometime in March or April, and similar to previous events, this one will be held virtually.
Reports suggest that the upcoming iPhone SE could be unveiled at this upcoming event by technology giant and will obviously be the focus of the event. Apple has records of new product launches at an event in March or April so the event is likely to happen.
Based on previous leaks and reports, the iPhone SE 2022 will be similar to the model currently available in terms of design, but will arrive with better specifications. It will look like the iPhone 8, but will contain upgrades in terms of internal elements.
The phone is expected to have a 4.7-inch HD LCD screen, and will also have a Home button with a built-in fingerprint sensor. It will probably be the last Apple smartphone to come with an LCD screen and a physical fingerprint sensor.
It will be powered by an Apple A15 processor along with 3GB of RAM, while there could be a Plus variant that will pack 4GB of RAM. The chipset also brings support for 5G connectivity to the phone. There will still be a 12-megapixel single-camera sensor on the back with enhanced photography features.
A recent estimate by JP Morgan claims that the upcoming iPhone SE could attract nearly 1.4 billion users of low- to mid-range Android phones, as well as about 300 million users of older iPhone models.
These numbers seem insanely large at the moment, but if the price is low enough, Apple could easily achieve something like that.
