Earlier today, it was announced that Tencent (creators of PUBG) will officially buy the Black Shark gaming phone brand in China. Hours after those talks, popular Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station revealed that the company also has plans to launch the Black Shark 5 series this year.
According to the leaker, the company is preparing the Black Shark 5 series. It will have two phones codenamed Katjuša and Patriot. The former device with the model number KTUS-A0 has already been registered in the Chinese MIIT, confirming its existence.
Leaker further revealed that the series will bring significant upgrades over its predecessor such as a new chipset, a large battery and the latest OS. The Black Shark 5 comes with the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC and runs on JOYUI based on Android 12. The phone will have a 4,600 mAh dual-cell battery and support 100W fast charging.
Moreover, another leaker named Bald Panda has revealed that the Black Shark 5 Pro will have a 5000 mAH battery, have 120W fast charging support and will be powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC. He also revealed that the device could have a 6.8-inch AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 144Hz and 2k resolution. And to see who is right we have to wait for the official teasers.
Recall, the previous Black Shark 4S and 4S Pro had a smaller battery of 4,500 mAh and were powered by Snapdragon 870/888 SoC.
For now, Black Shark has yet to officially start teasing the series, so we can say with certainty what awaits us from the Black Shark 5 series. We do not expect to wait long for such a thing, as leaks will become more frequent as we approach the presentation.
